Articles 1 Article Taking into account the definitions and types of motor vehicles stipulated in Law No. (13) of 1998 referred to, motor vehicles, for the purposes of applying the provisions of this resolution, shall mean the following: 1- Light vehicles, including: A- Passenger transport vehicles with a passenger capacity not exceeding (27) passengers, including the driver. B- Freight transport vehicles with a load capacity not exceeding three tons. 2- Heavy vehicles, including: A- Passenger vehicles with more than (27) passengers, including the driver. B- Freight vehicles with a load capacity exceeding three tons. 3- Mechanical equipment and machinery, including: Vehicles used in construction, agricultural, and industrial projects. Used mechanical vehicles are those licensed for use for their intended purpose by the competent official authorities in the importing country. Article 2 - Amendment The import of the following used motor vehicles is prohibited: 1. Light vehicles whose model year is more than five years old. 2. Heavy vehicles whose model year is more than ten years old. The aforementioned periods are calculated from the model year proven by the ownership documents or their equivalent. Article 3 - Amendment Subject to the provisions of Law No. (13) of 1998 referred to, the following are exempt from the import ban stipulated in the previous article: 1- Light vehicles imported by members of Qatari diplomatic missions abroad upon their final return from each mission, with a maximum of two vehicles per member. 2- Light vehicles imported by Qataris studying abroad upon their final return, with one vehicle per student, provided that the duration of their studies abroad is no less than two years. 3- Light vehicles of an antique nature, more than thirty-five years old, and vehicles of which only a limited number were produced. 4- Motor vehicles designed to special specifications and not used for purposes other than those for which they were designed. Article 4 In all cases, a used motor vehicle permitted to be imported must be fit for use for its intended purpose and meet safety and durability requirements, as per the technical inspection conducted by the competent authorities. Article 5 All competent authorities, each within its jurisdiction, shall implement this decision, which shall take effect from the date of its publication in the Official Newspaper.
